Jute gardening fabric is a purpose-engineered woven or nonwoven jute textile used in
horticulture and landscaping as a biodegradable ground cover, planting mat, and soil
stabilisation layer. Unlike synthetic landscaping fabrics that remain in the soil indefinitely
and eventually fragment into microplastics, jute gardening fabric degrades naturally in the
ground over one to two growing seasons — enriching the soil with organic matter as it
breaks down.
This biodegradability is not a limitation. For applications where temporary erosion control,
seedling protection, or weed suppression is needed during establishment — and where
removing the fabric at the end of the season is impractical — jute gardening fabric that
disappears into the soil on schedule is a functional advantage over a synthetic alternative
that must be physically removed.
Jute gardening fabric is used by commercial landscapers, garden centres, horticulture
operations, and domestic gardeners for ground preparation, slope stabilisation, seedbed
protection, and planting through fabric. It is supplied in rolls in standard and custom widths
and lengths.
