What a PP Container Liner Does

A polypropylene container liner is a large, woven PP fabric bag — manufactured to the internal dimensions of a 20ft or 40ft shipping container — that is installed inside the container before loading and filled with dry bulk product through a spout or open top. The liner contains the entire cargo within the container, protects it from moisture, contamination, and contact with the container walls and floor, and allows bulk discharge at the destination through a discharge spout without opening the container doors to a falling product face.

For commodities currently shipped in bags or sacks grains, flour, sugar, starch, fertiliser, minerals, animal feed, and industrial powders — a container liner eliminates the cost of individual bag manufacturing, the labour of filling and palletising thousands of individual bags, and the weight and space penalty of packaging material inside the container. The entire container payload capacity is available for product, not packaging.

If you are already buying container liners from another supplier, the specifications below will be immediately familiar. If you are evaluating the format for the first time, the parameters that follow are the decisions that determine whether a liner performs correctly for your product and your supply chain.

➤ PP Woven Container Liner — Standard Dry Bulk

The standard PP woven container liner is manufactured from circular or flat-woven polypropylene fabric in a construction engineered to hold the weight and bulk density of the commodity being shipped against the container walls without fabric failure, seam separation, or base collapse during filling, transit, and discharge.

The liner is installed inside the container — fixed to the container door frame, side walls, and floor anchor points — before loading. Product is filled through the top spout or open top. The container doors close over the filled liner. At destination, the discharge spout at the base of the liner releases product by gravity into the receiving pit, conveyor, or processing inlet below.

The entire loading, shipping, and discharge cycle happens without individual bags — which is the economic case for container liners on high-volume commodity routes.

Material: Woven PP — circular or flat weave Container Fit: 20ft · 40ft — manufactured to internal container dimensions Fabric Weight: 100 GSM – 180 GSM — confirmed to product bulk density Fill Configuration: Open top · Top fill spout (200 mm, 250 mm, 350 mm, 500 mm diameter) Discharge Configuration: No spout (door discharge) · Bottom discharge spout · Side discharge spout Seam Construction: Double-stitched structural seams tested to product load Anchor Points: Loops, straps, and tie-down attachments to container wall and floor anchor points Custom Sizes: Yes confirmed to container model and internal dimensions Best For: Grains, flour, sugar, starch, fertilisers, minerals, animal feed, malt, cocoa, coffee, industrial powders and granules — any dry flowable commodity currently shipped in bags or sacks on routes where bulk volume justifies the liner format

➤ PP Container Liner — With Spout (Fill and Discharge)

The spout-equipped PP container liner is the configuration for controlled filling and controlled discharge. The fill spout at the top connects to the filling equipment inlet pneumatic conveying, gravity chute, or conveyor spout — for dust-free, enclosed filling. The discharge spout at the base connects to the receiving equipment outlet for gravity-fed or vacuum-assisted discharge at the destination.

Spout liners are the correct specification for: — Products where dust emission during filling is an environmental or safety concern — Products where contamination risk during discharge must be minimised — Operations with existing spout-compatible filling and discharge equipment — Food and pharma-grade commodities where open filling and discharge is not acceptable

Fill Spout Diameters: 200 mm · 250 mm · 350 mm · 500 mm — confirmed to filling equipment Discharge Spout Diameters: 200 mm · 250 mm · 350 mm — confirmed to discharge equipment Spout Closure: Rope tie · Drawstring · Velcro — specified per operation Custom Spout Position: Top centre · Top offset · Side · Base centre · Base offset

➤ PP Container Liner — Open Top (Bulk Fill)

Open top PP container liners have no fill spout — the entire top of the liner opens for filling by conveyor, grab, or front-end loader. The correct specification for coarse bulk materials loaded by heavy equipment where a spout connection is impractical, and for operations where fill speed takes priority over dust containment.

Fill Method: Conveyor · Grab · Front-end loader · Pneumatic (wide-mouth) Discharge: Door discharge (liner opened at container doors) · Bottom spout on request Best For: Coarse minerals, aggregates, wood pellets, biomass, waste materials — bulk commodities loaded by heavy equipment

➤ PP Container Liner — Ventilated

Ventilated PP container liners are woven with an open mesh or missing-warp construction that allows air to circulate through the liner fabric during transit. For commodities that respire grains, malt, coffee, cocoa, agricultural produce — a sealed liner traps moisture vapour generated by the product, creates condensation on the container walls, and can cause significant quality damage during a long ocean voyage.

A ventilated liner allows the moisture vapour to escape through the fabric and exit through the container ventilation points, maintaining a drier atmosphere inside the liner and protecting the product from moisture damage and mould development in transit.

Ventilation Construction: Open weave mesh · Missing warp channels — specified to product airflow requirement Best For: Grains, malt, coffee, cocoa, dried agricultural commodities, any commodity that respires and generates moisture during ocean transit

➤ PP Container Liner — Food Grade and BRC Certified

Food grade PP container liners are manufactured from virgin polypropylene with no recycled content, using food-contact compliant materials throughout — fabric, thread, spout, and all internal components. They are produced in designated food-safe facilities with documented cleaning and contamination control protocols and are available with BRC Packaging certification for buyers supplying into retail food chains or regulated food processing operations.

For food commodity importers and exporters operating under HACCP, BRC, or retailer food safety codes, the liner’s food safety status is not a specification preference — it is a compliance requirement. We document it per batch.

Material: Virgin PP — no recycled content Food Contact Compliance: FDA 21 CFR · EFSA Certification: BRC Packaging — available from designated facilities Documentation: Food safety declaration · Certificate of conformity · Material data sheet per batch Best For: Sugar, flour, starch, malt, cocoa, coffee, food-grade starches, pharmaceutical intermediates any food or pharma commodity where liner food contact compliance is a regulatory or buyer requirement
